I've Been Down Before

Has anyone worked this one out? I was happily playing it out of Am (although I can't get that E to where I like it on the banjo, but that's my ineptitude). Then I loaded it into the Amazing Slowdowner and it isn't that at all. Granted, the recording may not be pitch correct because it's live, but there's still something I'm missing. Thoughts?

    hello Sarahct
had a go at the guitar chords for this song. It's a difficult one I think, esp. the Rawlings parts. The bits after the second, fourth and last verse are not straightforward 'one two three four', there is an extra 'one two' to start it off. And what I named B7 may actually be something else, I am not good in naming those, anyway I make that chord with barre at 3rd fret and pressing the 2nd and 4th string on 5. (pfew… explaining that is difficult… hope i made it clear… wish I could make a drawing). If you or anyone knows how to properly name that chord, pls feel free :)

And in this Youtube version there are 2 lines at the end but I am not shure of the lyrics...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdDg05jRhjoI won’t be down again
capo 1      Am   Am   Am    Am

       Am                Am           Am            Am
I wish I had a shotgun, I’d tie it to my side
             C               C                         G                    G
And never be without the power to make a man do right
              C                            C                     G                           G
‘Cause I’ve been pushed around some, and I’ve been made to bend
    B7                        B7             B7                 Am
I’ve been down before but I won’t be down again

    Am   Am   Am    Am

And if I had a pony, how fast I would ride
Yippie taye aye ay, with a shotgun at my side
An outlaw to my foes and a hero to my friends
I’ve been down before but I won’t be down again
    Am    Am
    Am   Am   Am    Am
    C        C       G       G
    C        C       G       G
    B7     B7      B7     Am

I’d give myself a peso for every star I see
And ride to El Dorado with a banjo on my knee
My pockets full of silver to gamble or to lend
I’ve been down before but I won’t be down again

And I wish I had a hammer, like old John Henry swung
I’d lay the mountain low and sit and look at what I’d done
I’d walk through the valley and make the rivers bend
‘cause I’ve been down before but I won’t be down again
    Am     Am(g)
    Am    Am   Am    Am
    C        C       G       G
    C        C       G       G
    B7     B7      B7     Am   Am  Am   Am

But I don’t have a hammer no pony no gun
All I’ve got’s this morphine running through my blood
I don’t have to wonder what makes the good times end
I’ve been down before but I won’t be down again.
    Am   Am

    I believe the lyric is

"I keep looking out for the angel he might send,

'cause I've been down before but I won't be down again"

Since I'm playing the banjo, I'll mess around with these chords in translation and see where I get. Thanks.

So it looks like I was mostly right, except for that B7. No wonder the E sounded wrong.
